most people fail to build muscle:
Instead of making
performance goals most people are making outcome goals for example
people will
always say “I want 10 pounds of muscle in the next 4
weeks”, or “I want to gain
more than 2 inches on my arms after 2
months”, and “I want to be able to bench press 300lbs by
the end of the month”.
Now
don’t get me wrong these are great goals to work for and
achieve but if outcome goals are the only ones you set, failure is
almost
guaranteed.
Instead you need to
set performance goals.
So
now the question becomes what is a performance goal? Well
a performance goal is sort of like building a good habit for example a
good
performance goals might be “I will go to the gym early in the
morning when
there are less distractions”, or “I will be in bed by 10:30
each night because
it will speed up recovery”, or “I will go the gym for only
half an hour a day
but hit it so hard that I feel as though I was there for 2 hours”
These
performance goals will than compliment you’re outcome
goals and help get you to the body you desire.
